Max file size
10 MB per image (US Seller Center)
Formats
JPG · PNG

Square (1:1) recommended; TikTok's US guide says images between 3:4 and 4:3 still upload

Required fields

  • idrequired

Unique product identifier, up to 100 characters. TikTok's XML templates use g:id; only the CSV template names the column sku_id.

  • titlerequired

Product name. On a US Shop listing at least 25 characters, 80 or fewer recommended; TikTok's US pages give 200 or 255 as the maximum. Clickbait, variant and inventory text count as title-quality issues.

  • descriptionrequired

US Shop listing: a Good listing needs more than 80 characters or an image in the description, and an invalid one (irrelevant, broken links, clickbait, duplicate) is Poor. UK listing rules: at least 30 words.

  • availabilityrequired

in stock, available for order, preorder, out of stock, or discontinued.

  • conditionrequired

new, refurbished, or used. Often missed by sellers.

  • pricerequired

    Number + currency code.

  • linkrequired

    Product page URL.

  • image_linkrequired

Primary image URL. TikTok's catalog docs require the URL to end in .jpg, .jpeg or .png. additional_image_link supports up to 10 comma-separated URLs.

  • brandrequired

Manufacturer or store brand. Often missed by sellers, required for catalog feed.

  • google_product_categoryoptional

TikTok reuses Google's taxonomy. Optional but improves categorisation.

Image rules

  • Listing tiers are about image count and quality
Tiers (Poor / Fair / Good) are based on image count and quality, NOT pixel-size thresholds. Good tier requires ≥5 high-resolution (>600×600) images, a valid description and all category-specific information.
  • Minimum: 600×600 px (US), 800×800 px (UK)
TikTok's US Add Products guide asks for 600×600 px images, and its US listing-quality guide wants the main image over 600×600 for Fair or Good. UK listing rules require every image to be at least 800×800.
  • Square recommended
TikTok recommends 1:1; its US guide says images between 3:4 and 4:3 still upload.
  • PNG or JPG only
Unlike Google Merchant Center, no other formats accepted.
  • No watermarks
Brand logos used as watermarks are rejected. Stricter than Meta.
  • No pixelation, no B&W
Colour required. Low-resolution sources get rejected.
  • Product fills ≥80% of frame
Product centred, fills majority of the visible area.
  • Up to 9 images per product
≥5 high-resolution images qualifies for "Good" tier (the count + quality threshold, not pixel thresholds).

Common pitfalls

  • Reusing watermarked product photos from Instagram, TikTok rejects them.
  • Submitting only one image when category requires multiple angles (footwear, jewelry). Even meeting the 600×600 floor, count matters for tier.
  • Conflating TikTok Shop product upload (seller dashboard) with TikTok Ads catalog feed, the two products have overlapping but not identical field requirements.
  • Looking for a feed-URL field in Seller Center. TikTok Shop listings sync from your store (for example Shopify's TikTok channel) or are added in Seller Center; they do not take a feed URL. A feed URL goes into a catalog in TikTok Ads Manager (Catalog → Add products → Data feed), which powers catalog ads.

How Emberfeed handles all of this

Emberfeed checks every product in your feed against this platform’s required fields and format rules: prices, availability values, GTIN checksums, title and link lengths, image URLs. Most problems come with a fix, a field rule for the whole feed or an override for one product. It also measures your product photos, while rendering them and in the background after each refresh, and warns when a main photo is under 500×500 px, the minimum of the TikTok Ads catalog that Emberfeed’s feed goes to. It does not check the higher TikTok Shop listing minimums on this page.

Emberfeed is a hosted tool: it imports your existing product feed, renders every product image through one template and serves a new feed URL for Meta, Google, TikTok, Heureka and Zboží.cz. It costs 25 € per feed per month, and the first 3 months are free on one feed up to 1,000 products.
