Google Merchant Center: Image too small

Error message
Image too small [image link]

What's happening

The image_link URL points to an image smaller than the 500×500 pixel minimum. As of January 31, 2027 this becomes a hard rejection; warnings begin April 14, 2026. Until enforcement: 100×100 (non-clothing) and 250×250 (clothing) remain the active minimums, but anything smaller than 500×500 starts surfacing warnings now.

Manual fix

Replace the source image with a higher-resolution version (1500×1500+ recommended). For thousands of products, this means re-shooting or upscaling at the source. Each upload then has to propagate through your CMS / PIM / feed export.

Fix it with Emberfeed

Set up an image template that renders against a sharp-upscaled version of your source image. Emberfeed renders at 1500×1500 by default; the original CDN image stays untouched. One template configuration fixes every product at once.
