Google Merchant Center: Generic image
Generic image [image link]What's happening
The image_link points at a generic or placeholder image rather than a photo of the actual product, so the product is disapproved and will not show in Shopping ads or free listings until the image is replaced. Google flags logos used as the product image, "No image available" placeholders, single-colour swatches, and stock filler that does not show the principal product. This is different from a promotional overlay (text on a real photo) and from an uncrawlable image (the URL cannot be fetched at all), the image here loads fine, it just is not a picture of the product.
image_linkManual fix
Identify affected products in Merchant Center under Needs attention, shoot or source a real product photo for each, and update the image_link URL. Changing the URL itself triggers a faster re-fetch than swapping the file behind the same URL.
Fix it with Emberfeed
Emberfeed cannot create product photography that was never shot, so be clear about the line here. What it does fix: a filter rule excludes products whose image_link matches a placeholder pattern (no-image, placeholder, coming-soon) so they stop dragging down the account data-quality score, per-product overrides swap in the correct image URL for the few that point at the wrong file, and a field rule can remap image_link to a real photo if one exists on your CDN under a different field. Products with genuinely no photo need a storefront-side shoot, Emberfeed can only exclude those.
